Bryan McMorran

HWM Aston Martin Sales Specialist

Bryan McMorran has been involved with cars since leaving school. He started out by knocking on every Sales Manager’s office door, in every garage in his home town of Dumfries, until he had eventually annoyed one of them enough for them to give him a job! He worked his way up through the ranks, finally landing his dream job selling Aston Martins. Bryan joined the HWM sales team in March 2002.

What is your favourite Aston Martin and why?

I have 3. The DB4 for its elegance and purity of design is my favourite “classic” Aston Martin. I adore the DB7 GT, and still remember my first ever drive in the car when it was launched, such a massive departure from the 3.2 6 cylinder model I first started selling! Now, however, my heart has been won over by the current DBS.

How long have you been with the marque?

I have been involved with Aston Martin since 1999.

What interests do you have away from HWM Aston Martin?

Music and literature to relax, as well as cooking and enjoying the odd glass of wine! I also have a passion for watches and classic cars, and am fortunate enough to live a short drive away from Goodwood Motor Circuit, so attend many of the motorsport events held there.

What would you say is your greatest achievement?

Professionally, being involved with the marque for over 10 years, and my tenure with HWM. I am very proud to be part of the history of this evocative company, and to be just a small part of an exceptional team that is passionate about the brand of HWM, as well as Aston Martin.

In your opinion, who is the greatest racing driver of all time and why?

Throughout history, there have been many good drivers, but for me, the greatest will always be Jim Clark. Twice World Champion, Indy 500 winner, as well as memorable victories in both Sports Cars and Touring Cars showed him to be a towering talent within a very modest man. Whether drifting a DB4GT Zagato through the Goodwood curves, balancing a Lotus Cortina, or steering his iconic Lotus 49 to many victories showed him to be in a different class. The fact that he was also a Scotsman is just a bonus!

What was your greatest drive?

Back in 2006 I was fortunate enough to drive to Le Mans in a Vanquish S, which is a memory that will always remain. However, driving a V8 Vantage down my favourite road, the A701, that runs from Edinburgh to Moffat is a clear winner. The balanced chassis combined with flowing bends, Scottish countryside and that glorious engine note will always be my favourite!
