Retracting the hood and welcoming in the scenery opens up another level of driving involvement. Getting nearer to the bark of the Aston Martin sports exhaust provides a spine tingling backdrop. The Vantage S Roadster combines ferocious power and superb agility with handcrafted luxury. All this under the aluminium skin of one of the evocative Aston Martin shapes.
The iconic proportions and the dynamic shape of the Vantage range are only made more noticeable when the roof is down. Lowered in just 18 seconds, the fabric hood is stowed beneath two aluminium speed humps. There is no mistaking the distinctive silouhette.
The Vantage S boasts incredible strength and rigidity from the Aston Martin lightweight, aluminium bonded chassis. Whilst structural solidity can often be an issue with the convertible format, the Vantage was engineered as a Roadster first and foremost. This meant that Aston Martin were able to design the car with the necessary structural strength required for a soft top sports car with such high power and performance capability.
Supple leather and an ergonomic design define the Roadster’s interior. Unique features include race-track style stitching and stitched door panels.
As you slide into the distinctive lightweight seat design you will find the chronograph-inspired instruments are natural to touch and instinctive to use.
Further options let you customise the interior to suit your own personal preferences. Personalised sill plaques, black adenoid speaker grilles and a wide variety of fascia trim features can all be applied to this indulgent cabin.
The AMi III infotainment system has all the bases covered with a satellite navigation system, wireless music streaming, Bluetooth and text message integration. The tactile finishes help to create an entirely intuitive user interface.
The 4.7-litre V8 engine is the beating heart of the S Roadster. The dry-sump unit has both the ability to provide progressive torque delivery for a relaxed drive or scintillating, high rev power for those more committed moments.
Assembled by hand, this responsive power-plant can reach a peak output of 430BHP with maximum torque of 490Nm. The engine can propel you as fast as 190mph and it will have you moving at 60mph in just 4.8 seconds. It is perhaps the last of an era of charismatic, naturally aspirated V8 engines that will be revered for many years to come.
