Aston Martin Valhalla 2028 Model Year: Introducing the Spider

The Aston Martin Valhalla story enters a new chapter with the introduction of the 2028 Model Year Spider. Limited to just 249 examples worldwide, this new open-top derivative combines Valhalla’s extraordinary hybrid performance with an even closer connection to its flat plane crank, V8 soundtrack.

At HWM Aston Martin, having welcomed our first customer Valhalla, we are delighted to share the latest developments for this remarkable mid-engined supercar.

The Valhalla Spider retains the Coupé’s headline performance figures. Its bespoke 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 works with three electric motors to produce 1,079PS and 1,100Nm of torque, delivering 0–62mph in just 2.5 seconds.

With the roof removed, the Spider can reach its electronically limited maximum speed of 217mph, making it the fastest open-cockpit Aston Martin yet.

For UK customers, a removable black fabric roof is fitted as standard. This can be stowed behind the passenger seat, allowing owners to carry it with them when enjoying the car roof-free. With the fabric roof fitted, maximum speed is limited to 124mph.

An optional carbon fibre hardtop provides an alternative and permits the full 217mph maximum speed. This roof must be stored separately when removed. All cars also receive a rain cover for use when parked.

With an enormously strong carbon tub chassis, the Valhalla is perfectly placed to integrate the Spider version without introduction any significant weight or dynamic penalties. It promises all of the incredible engagement of the Coupe with added drama.

Creating the Spider required careful management of airflow around both the occupants and the powertrain. A dedicated wind deflector clips into place when the roof is removed, directing air over the cabin while maintaining airflow towards the engine intake and cooling systems. The intake snorkel has also been reshaped and raised by 35mm compared with the Coupé.

Practicality receives attention too. Two new watertight sill compartments provide a combined 30 litres of storage. When the roof is fitted, the wind deflector folds into three sections and can be stored in one of these compartments.

Carbon Fibre Touring seats are standard on the Spider, offering additional room around the hips and shoulders for greater comfort on longer journeys. Drivers seeking the more focused support of the Coupé’s bucket seats can select those as a no-cost alternative, with a choice of thick or thin seat pads.

For owners planning regular circuit use, optional Brembo CCM-R Plus brake discs offer enhanced resistance to the sustained high temperatures associated with track driving.

The Spider also offers ten livery themes. Five are available with either roof system, while a further five are offered exclusively with the carbon fibre hardtop. Exposed and tinted carbon fibre options provide further opportunities to create an individual specification.

The Spider benefits from improvements already introduced for the 2027 Model Year, including the standard titanium exhaust system. With larger-diameter piping and enhanced sound character, this system also saves 1.74kg compared with the previous stainless-steel exhaust.

Other established updates include standard satin twill carbon fibre interior trim, an Alcantara steering wheel, Satin Dark Chrome jewellery and carpet floor mats.

Aston Martin will make just 249 Spider variants for the world. This will be included in the total 999 car production run for Valhalla.

Production of the 2028 Model Year Valhalla Spider is scheduled to begin in May 2027, with customer delivery timing to be confirmed.
